What Event Security Guards Do

Event security guards are very important for large events. They will be on hand and readily available to take care of any problems that happen at the event that need to be handled right away. An example of a problem you will want security to deal with immediately would be a fight between people at the event or someone who is acting in a disorderly manner. However, what many people don't realize is that security guards can do a lot more at large events than braking up fights and ushering out disorderly people. Here are some of the other things that security guards can do.

Show their presence

One of the biggest things that security guards do just by being at an event is to just be there. In many cases just the sight of a security guard is enough to maintain the peace and keep everyone acting right.

Tend to the door

Security guards can tend to the entrance of the event to make sure only people who should be entering do enter. They can do things like check everyone's ID, take any entrance fees, make sure everyone that comes in has an invite, or make sure those that enter meet any other criteria that is a requirement. Depending on the event, there may be a metal detector that people have to pass through, and if there is, then security guards will be the ones who monitor the metal detector and ensure everyone enters without weapons.

Look for threats around the event area

Security guards are trained to automatically keep an eye out for any threats. They know to watch for things like mysterious packages or people who look like they may be planning something bad. Also, they will be on the lookout for people who appear to have snuck into the event, so they will ask these people for proof of their right to be at the event to make sure they belong.

Monitoring the parking area

Security guards can also walk the parking lot to make sure that no one is in the parking lot vandalizing cars or trying to breaking into them or steal them. In some areas this can be a real concern. Also, the security guards will be there to make sure people get to their cars safely. They will even escort people to their cars who don't feel safe walking through a dark parking lot.

About Me

Home Security 101: The Basics When my husband started considering some over-the-road trucking jobs that would leave the kids and I home by ourselves, we immediately decided we needed to get a dog. This was the first part of our home security preparations. He wanted us to have something in the house that would alert us if someone showed up, and would protect us if need be. Once we got the dog, I started calling home security companies. I wanted to be sure that my kids and I were secure. They walked me through a whole-home security system with monitoring. I learned a lot from them about areas to secure and what to watch for. I created this site in the hopes of teaching others about keeping their homes and families protected.
